This exercise works your tummy muscles, hips, and thighs. You lie on your back and lift your straight legs up. Then, you lower them very fast—like a throw—and lift them up again. People often do this with a partner helping them.

Assisted Lying Leg Raise With Throw Down demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Lie flat on your back with your legs straight and arms by your sides.
  2. 2Put your hands under your bottom to help support you.
  3. 3Tighten your tummy muscles and lift your straight legs off the floor.
  4. 4Lift your legs until they point straight up at the ceiling.
  5. 5Lower your legs back down toward the floor.
  6. 6At the same time, push your legs down fast, keeping them straight.
  7. 7Lift your legs back up to where you started.
  8. 8Repeat this for the number of times you want.
