Straight Leg Outer Hip Abductor

This bodyweight exercise is done while lying on your side to work the muscles on the outside of your hips. It builds strength in your outer thighs and hips while also using your glutes and hamstrings.

Straight Leg Outer Hip Abductor demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Lie on your side with your legs straight, one resting on top of the other.
  2. 2Rest your head on your bottom arm for support.
  3. 3Tighten your stomach muscles and lift your top leg as high as you can without twisting your hips or leaning back.
  4. 4Hold for a brief moment at the top, then slowly lower your leg back to where you started.
  5. 5Complete your set, then switch to the other side.
