Smith Reverse Calf Raises (intermediate)

This exercise works your calf muscles using a Smith machine for balance. You stand with the front of your feet on a step and lift your heels up and down.

Smith Reverse Calf Raises (intermediate) demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the bar height so it sits just below your shoulders.
  2. 2Stand in front of the bar with your feet slightly apart and toes pointing straight ahead.
  3. 3Step onto the edge of a platform so only the balls of your feet are on it, letting your heels hang off the back.
  4. 4Hold the bar with your hands to keep your balance.
  5. 5Push up onto your toes to lift your heels as high as you can.
  6. 6Stop for a moment at the top, then slowly lower your heels back down.
  7. 7Do this again for the number of times you want.
