Smith One Arm Row

This is a back exercise performed with one arm on a Smith machine. It works the upper back muscles and also helps the arm muscles. You need to stand steady and use careful movements to do it safely.

Smith One Arm Row demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the Smith machine bar so it is as high as your waist.
  2. 2Stand in front of the machine with your feet apart, lining them up with your shoulders.
  3. 3Bend your knees a little bit and lean your body forward at the hips, but keep your back flat.
  4. 4Hold the bar with one hand so your palm looks down at the floor.
  5. 5Keep your elbow near your side and pull the bar up to your waist while squeezing your back muscles.
  6. 6Stop for a short moment at the top, then slowly let the bar go back down to where you started.
  7. 7Do this for the number of times you want, then switch to use your other arm.
