Smith Machine Reverse Decline Close Grip Bench Press

This chest exercise is done on a decline Smith machine. You use a grip where your hands are close together. It works your chest muscles, while also using your triceps and shoulders. Because of the angle and grip, you need to move carefully and stay in control.

Smith Machine Reverse Decline Close Grip Bench Press demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Set the Smith machine bench to a decline angle.
  2. 2Lie on your back and hook your feet under the pads to stay safe.
  3. 3Hold the bar with your hands close together, just inside your shoulder width.
  4. 4Unlock the bar and bring it down slowly toward your chest, keeping your elbows close to your sides.
  5. 5Stop for a second at the bottom.
  6. 6Push the bar back up to where you started.
  7. 7Do this again for as many times as you need.
