Side Hip Abduction

This bodyweight exercise makes your outer thighs and hips stronger. It also helps your butt and leg muscles work better. It is used to build strength, help you move easily, or heal injuries.

Side Hip Abduction demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet as wide as your shoulders. Put your hands on your hips.
  2. 2Lean your weight onto one leg. Keep the other leg straight and lift it out to the side.
  3. 3Stop for a second at the top. Then, slowly lower your leg back down to the floor.
  4. 4Do the same thing with your other leg.
  5. 5Keep switching legs until you finish all your repetitions.
