Roller Side Lat Stretch

This exercise uses a foam roller to help stretch the large muscles in your back, known as the lats. It also works your shoulders and the back of your arms. You perform it by bending forward at your hips and lowering the roller to feel the stretch.

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand tall with your feet shoulder-width apart. Hold the roller with both hands in front of you.
  2. 2Bend your knees a little bit. Lean forward from your hips while keeping your back flat.
  3. 3Reach your arms out and move the roller down toward your feet. You should feel a stretch in your back muscles.
  4. 4Stay in this position for a few seconds. Then, slowly bring the roller back up to where you started.
  5. 5Repeat this movement as many times as you want.
