Exercise Ball Lower Back Stretch (pyramid)

This stretch is done on a large exercise ball. It works your lower back and side muscles. It also uses your bottom and leg muscles. You roll the ball under your back and gently lean backward over it to stretch.

Exercise Ball Lower Back Stretch (pyramid) demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Sit on the ball. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your knees bent.
  2. 2Walk your feet forward slowly. Let the ball roll down your back until it rests under your lower back.
  3. 3Put your hands behind your head or cross them over your chest.
  4. 4Tighten your tummy muscles. Slowly lean your upper body back toward the floor. Let your lower back stretch over the ball.
  5. 5Hold the stretch for a few seconds. Then, slowly lift yourself back up to the starting position.
  6. 6Do this again for as many times as you need.
