Exercise Ball Lat Stretch

This flexibility exercise targets the large muscles on the sides of your back. You sit on a stability ball and lean to the side while holding a weight above your head. This creates a deep stretch in your back while also working your shoulders and arms.

Exercise Ball Lat Stretch demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Sit on a stability ball with your feet flat on the floor and your back straight.
  2. 2Hold a dumbbell in one hand and reach that arm straight up toward the ceiling.
  3. 3Slowly lean your body to the opposite side until you feel a stretch in the side of your back.
  4. 4Stay in this position for 20 to 30 seconds, then go back to the start.
  5. 5Switch hands and repeat the movement on the other side.
