Dumbbell One Arm Bent-over Row

This exercise builds strength on one side of your body. It focuses on your upper back muscles, but also works your biceps and forearms. To do it, you bend forward at your hips and pull a weight up to your chest while keeping your back straight.

Dumbbell One Arm Bent-over Row demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet apart, about as wide as your shoulders. Hold a weight in one hand with your palm facing you.
  2. 2Bend your knees a little. Lean forward at your hips. Keep your back flat and your stomach muscles tight.
  3. 3Let the weight hang straight down toward the floor. Keep your arm straight.
  4. 4Pull the weight up to your chest. Keep your elbow near your side and squeeze your back muscles together.
  5. 5Hold it at the top for a second. Then, slowly lower the weight back down.
  6. 6Do this for the number of times you want. Then, switch to the other arm.
