Dumbbell Incline Rear Lateral Raise

This exercise builds the muscles on the back of your shoulders. It also helps the muscles in your upper back. You lie face down on a slanted bench to help you stay still and target the right muscles.

Dumbbell Incline Rear Lateral Raise demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Adjust a bench so it slants up at a 45-degree angle.
  2. 2Sit and lean forward so your chest rests flat against the bench pad.
  3. 3Hold a dumbbell in each hand and let your arms hang straight down with palms facing each other.
  4. 4Keep your elbows slightly bent and lift your arms out to the sides until they are level with your shoulders.
  5. 5Stop for a second at the top, then slowly lower your arms back to the start.
  6. 6Do this for the correct number of times.
