Cable Twisting Pull

This exercise works your back muscles, specifically the lats. It uses a cable machine. You pull a handle toward you while turning your upper body. Your shoulders and arms help with the movement too. This exercise builds strength and coordination.

Cable Twisting Pull demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Connect a handle to the low pulley and stand facing the machine.
  2. 2Hold the handle with your left hand. Step back until your arm is fully straight.
  3. 3Stand with your feet apart, about the width of your shoulders. Bend your knees a little.
  4. 4Keep your back straight and tighten your tummy muscles. Keep them tight the whole time.
  5. 5Pull the handle to your body. Turn your chest to the right as you pull.
  6. 6Squeeze your back muscles tight when you finish the pull.
  7. 7Slowly return to where you started. Keep the cable tight.
  8. 8Do this for the set number of times. Then switch to your right hand.
