How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet as wide as your shoulders. Hold the barbell with your palms facing your body, placing your hands just a bit wider than your shoulders.
  2. 2Let your arms hang down fully so the barbell rests in front of your thighs.
  3. 3Tighten your stomach muscles and keep your back flat. Breathe out as you lift the bar straight up toward your chin, leading the movement with your elbows.
  4. 4Hold still for a second at the top, then breathe in as you slowly lower the bar back to where you started.
  5. 5Repeat this movement for your target number of repetitions.
