This is a simple strength move for your lower legs. You stand up tall with a weighted bar on your back and lift your heels to work your calf muscles.

Barbell Standing Leg Calf Raise demonstration

How to Perform

  1. 1Stand with your feet as wide as your shoulders and hold a barbell on your upper back.
  2. 2Push your heels up from the floor as high as you can using your lower leg muscles.
  3. 3Hold the lift for a short second at the top.
  4. 4Lower your heels slowly back to the floor.
  5. 5Do this again for as many times as you need.
